Add a Patient

Register a new patient in Akili AI so you can link consultations and notes to their record.

What this is for

Creating a new patient record when a patient does not yet exist in the system.

Who can do this

All clinical users and practice staff with patient management access.

Step-by-step

  1. Navigate to the Patients Screen.
  2. Select Add patient.
  3. Enter the patient's details:
    • First name and last name (required)
    • Date of birth (required)
    • ID number or passport number
    • Mobile number and email address
    • Gender
    • Medical aid / insurance details (if applicable)
  4. Review the details for accuracy.
  5. Select Save.
  6. The patient record is created and you can now link consultations to them.

Tip

You can also add a patient directly from the New Recording flow — search for the patient and select Add new patient if they are not found.

Common issues

Duplicate patient warning

Akili AI checks for existing records with the same name and date of birth. If a duplicate is detected, review the existing record before creating a new one to avoid duplicates in the system.
