Start a New Recording

Record a consultation and have Akili AI generate a structured clinical note automatically.

What this is for

Starting an audio recording during or after a patient consultation so that Akili AI can transcribe and structure the clinical note.

Who can do this

Clinicians with an active Akili AI account.

Step-by-step

  1. From the Home Screen, tap New Recording.
  2. Search for the patient by name, date of birth or ID number.
    • If the patient does not exist yet, select Add new patient and complete their details first.
  3. Confirm the patient and select the episode of care, or create a new episode.
  4. Tap Start Recording when you are ready to begin.
  5. Conduct the consultation. Akili AI records the audio in the background.
  6. Tap Stop Recording when the consultation ends.
  7. The recording uploads automatically. You will see a Processing status indicator.
  8. Once processing is complete (typically 30–90 seconds), the note is ready to review.

Offline recording

If you lose internet connectivity during a recording, Akili AI will queue the upload and retry automatically when connectivity is restored.

Next step

Once the note is generated, proceed to Approving & Linking a Note.

Common issues

Recording button is greyed out

Ensure the app has microphone permissions. Check your device settings under Privacy → Microphone.

Note is stuck on 'Processing'

Wait up to 5 minutes for longer recordings. If it does not resolve, contact hello@akiliai.net with the date and approximate time of the recording.
