Request Patient Consent

Send a consent request to a patient before recording a consultation.

What this is for

Obtaining documented patient consent for AI-assisted transcription and note generation before or during a consultation.

Who can do this

All clinical users.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the patient's record from the Patients Screen.
  2. Select Request Consent.
  3. Choose the consent type:
    • Recording consent — permission to record the consultation audio.
    • Data processing consent — permission for AI processing of clinical notes.
  4. Select the delivery method:
    • SMS — sends to the patient's registered mobile number.
    • Email — sends to the patient's registered email address.
    • In-person — presents a consent form on-screen for the patient to sign directly.
  5. The patient receives the consent request and acknowledges it.
  6. Once acknowledged, the consent record is stored against the patient's profile.

Note

Consent records are visible under the Consent tab in the patient's record. You can view the date, type and method of consent at any time.

Common issues

Patient contact details are missing

Ensure the patient's mobile number or email address is saved before sending. See Edit Patient Details.

Consent request not received by patient

Ask the patient to check their spam folder. If still not received, use the In-person option instead.
